Mrs. Torkel Olson nee Randi Thornes born April 28 1846 in Saldal Norway died April 28 1927 in LeGrand Iowa aged 81 She emigrated with Torkel Olson to America in 1877 settling near LeGrand They had ten children nine living at her death and many grandchildren and great grandchildren Her funeral at the Friends church was conducted by Reverends Biddle and Bentley with burial in the Friends cemetery

Jim Wilson of Green Mountain has spread about 780 tons of agricultural lime in Marion Township over seven years, a potential county and state record. The alfalfa farmer, dubbed the alfalfa man, seeded 375 acres to alfalfa in seven years and plans 100 more this spring, using Grimm variety and oats as nurse crop.
