Local club members outlined a December corn show with about ten participants, no entry fee, and no cash prizes. Estimated cost around $20 with forty memberships. samples returned to exhibitors. Event aims to be competitive with ribbons for awards and a gathering of last year’s exhibitors.
The campus welcomes spring with Rev Kendall’s expected arrival and shade trees planted. Pres Kerr tours to Marshalltown, Paul Vermie hints at returning to college, and Raymond Clark shares farm work and recruitment spirit. A $7000 Forward Movement Rand is canvassed to ease old debt. Arbor Day lessons praise trees, care, and forward-looking planting across states and nations. Birth announcements and a birthday farewell party for Miss Rose Farmer round out community life.
Two Junior C E members Frankie Oatland and Rudy Snyder joined the Friends Church group. A new beginner's class, taught by Lizzie Motatr as teacher and Flora Sharp as assistant, was organized. Foreign Missionary Day raised funds for Chinese famine relief, with $6.25 in the offering and $7.26 at church services. The Junior Society had a lively week with stories from foreign children and discussions on being foreign. The social at the Pemberton home featured a spelling game by ticket letters. No.1 won with song "My Country ’Tis of Thee." The event also included charades, Bible-hero name games, a conundrum menu, and a lunch with humorous Q&A. A local Independence merchant’s ad inquiry and convalescence noted.
