We welcome the class of 1929 as they begin life beyond school with new opportunities. Local business firms extend a warm welcome and urge graduates to stay and contribute to the community through business and social life, making it a greater place to live.
The final Parent-Teacher Association meeting of the school year will be held Monday night May 6 at the school building. An attempt is being made to secure the Des Moines weather bureau man for April, but no definite announcement yet. Bring a dozen meat sandwiches and dishes for your needs.
A union meeting at the Christian church Sunday morning at 11 o clock will feature Mrs Jeannette Haslam Mann national organizer and lecturer from Boston Mass as the guest speaker Her theme will be Child Welfare A free will offering will be taken at the close of the service
Albert Shellenbarger of Butlerville was badly crippled when his foot was crushed under a skid during a house moving mishap. He and Jimmie Dixon freed the foot after dirt removal, leaving him with crushed instep bones and torn ligaments requiring long recovery.
The High School Gazette notes juniors editing under Miss Ethel Rank with banquet plans for next week. May 16 commencement for twenty graduates. athletic news includes a 8 to 12 loss to Gilman. Editorials urge steady study and perseverance amid jokes and class notices.
Funeral services were held Tuesday for Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Sidwell who died Sunday night from embolism after illness near Marshalltown. Survived by husband Frank Sidwell and eight children. burial in Riverside cemetery. Also noted: Sidwell family connections in Green Mountain Linn Creek Marion Marshalltown and Des Moines. Hauser relatives in Jefferson City Eldon and San Deni Dias. Additional social notes and local notices reference visitors and club meetings.

A union service at Christian church at 7 0 0 pm and Christian Endeavor at 8 00 pm with a Wednesday worship, monthly meeting and cordial welcome. Poem ends the notice urging clearer vision and more effective deeds.
Sunday School opens at 9 45 am and morning worship at 11 00 am with Mrs Mann from Boston a child welfare worker giving an address in honor of Children's Week. Christian Endeavor at 7 pm followed by a consecration meeting and 8 pm evening service. State convention prayer circle Wednesday at 7 20 pm then church business at 8 00. All are welcome.
Quarry Chapel announces Sunday School at 10 a.m. led by Roy Hartiwell as superintendent. Church service follows at 11 o'clock with pastor L. T. Hibbs officiating. Tuesday evening worship is 7 30 p m. A cordial welcome to all.
Bills for electric light and power are mailed each month after reading and due immediately. A 10 percent penalty applies to the first $10 and 2 percent on amounts above $10 if not paid by the stamped due date. An Iowa Railway and Light Corporation representative will be in LeGrand for collections around the due date.
John Ingebritson, Dunbar merchant, secretly married Ruth Brown, longtime teacher at Dunbar consolidated school, in Cedar Rapids. The ceremony at 4:00 p.m. was conducted by Rev. Towers. The couple will live in a new Dunbar residence after school term ends.
