The Le Grand high school junior class staged When Jane Takes a Hand to a crowded audience despite Friday night rain. The performance cleared about sixty dollars after expenses, with additional showings planned May 9. Seniors and sophomores participated in science and music activities, while sports results showed L. G. H. S. ball team losses to St. Marys 10 to 0 and 8 to 3 in Marshalltown.
Frank Prusha, son of Joseph Prusha, died at 3 30 P M Saturday April 26 in University hospital Iowa City from a paralytic stroke. Born August 30 1877 in Bohemia he came to the United States at age nine with parents who settled near LeGrand. He lived in Cedar Rapids Waterloo Montour and LeGrand was his lifelong home. He worked for J G Cherry Co in Cedar Rapids and belonged to Odd Fellows and Moose lodges. Funeral 2 PM Tuesday from Friends church Rev Guy W Harvey officiating. Burial Pleasant Hill cemetery pallbearers Hans Anderson B H Beane John Krughel Lee Stanfield J L Harrison Ray Duncan.
At Monday evening town hall caucus voters placed nominees for the June 2 primary. Assessor I F P Rubenbauer, clerk Jos Smaha, constables W M Gaunt and A A Wolkov, justices of the peace W K Arnold and Geo Rubenbauer, trustees Fred Nuese and Max Radloff, committeeman G OC Ogier, committeewoman Mrs L C Knudson.
Pastor Rev Guy W Harver leads the Friends Church with 10 am services by Margareth Hoover and an 11 am preaching service. Christian Endeavor meeting at 6 30 pm led by Addie Adair, prayer meeting and Bible study Wednesday at 7 30 pm. Choir ladies hosted by the men with games and refreshments. Missionary Society met at Mrs Armstrong's home with forty present. Mrs Jennie Jones spoke on the Work of the V W at Marshalltown and the Girls Reserve movement. devotional by Mrs Walter Hoover. committee served refreshments.
Strand Lutheran Dunbar announces English language services next Sunday at 11 o clock. Ladies Aid meets May 7 at 2 p.m. Rev. Oxvsaus Quatey is pastor. Omar Manship of Ames visited his parents J R Manship. Mr Kernal Thompson and children from Stavanger visited Walter Weitzel family. Mrs Alice Hanbecker and nephew Kenneth Piper were guests of S R Piper in Marshalltown. Rosa Beachout hosted Sunday dinner for E G Hanson from Des Moines, Dave Duncan and Ray Duncan and family from Marshalltown.
Davis Hoover returned from Ohio and wed Mary S. Aldrich of Cedar Rapids in the home of Mrs. J. A. Beecher on April 21. The groom is 72 and the bride is 71, a former Dysart teacher known as Mary Farnsworth.
