Army Officer Hanged for Girl's Murder in Manila
Second Lieutenant John H. Thompson of the United States Army was hanged at Fort McKinley Manila for the murder of his seventeen year old fiancée Audrey Burleigh. Thompson, twenty five, walked to the scaffold after a day with his adviser and attorney. He claimed despair over marriage delays led to the killing and intended to end his life after the act.
