Mrs. Della Richards and her son Belden L. Richards died of asphyxiation in a Hayward California tourist camp cabin on Feb 27. Deputy Coroner W F Flier called the deaths accidental, noting a defective gas heater jet was found on. Bodies identified by belongings. funeral plans pending arrival of the remains. Surviving relatives include a daughter Mrs. Wayne Reed and siblings. Funeral services set for Estes funeral parlor with Carlton cemetery burial.

Change of Time Updates Northwestern Mail Trains
The Northwestern changes time for mail trains improving service. No 9 now runs as a mail train picking up bags without stopping. Nos 29 and 30 restored to handle parcel post west and east without a mail clerk aboard. All mail moves to the first distributing point before being spread, with the baggageman handling prep before Marshalltown and Tama. No 9 time advanced to 8 25. Parcels post trains run at 10 59 am and 4 12 pm.

LeGrand Garden Club members joined Marshalltown Garden Club for a special meeting on Monday March 2 with over seventy in attendance. Mrs O W Johnson presided as program presenter featured poems by Mrs I M Gaunt a talk on Rocks for the Rock Garden by B H Beane vocal solos by Rev Taylor Guthrie travel talks by Mrs L C Knudson and Mrs Howard Keen and a Kentucky trip retold by Johnson. Mrs Jobn Krughel displayed the Sacred Lily of India in full bloom drawing interest. Refreshments with white carnat ions and green tapers followed. The Marshalltown trip was deemed a success.
