LeGrand dominates Dunbar then Gilman in a tense sequence of games. Hibbs and Davis star as LeGrand advances to face Ferguson in the final, where fatigue sinks their effort. Post tourney notes report election next Monday and local arrivals and arrivals.
Ralph Beane visits Pean College student body. Teachers Mrs. Pfiogsten and Mrs. Magee miss Friday activities while husbands escort the boys’ team to Marshalltown. Girls volleyball grows in PE class with a possible inter class tourney and an operetta “The Maid of the Golden Slipper” slated. Photographs drawn from Coward Labs yield mixed student reactions. Several local families relocate and attend a play as sports and civics study continue.
Voters are invited to a town caucus at the town hall this Friday at 8. Nominations for town officers will be made, inviting community participation in local affairs.
The regular W. G. T. U. meeting at Mrs. Cal Dougherty's home included roll call remarks and a recital "Sea by the Papers" by Mrs. Sanders Lougherty and Mary Ellen Sanders. The Marshalltown Union will host the Training Conference at the Church of Christ on Saturday March 27 with Mrs. Ida B. Wise Smith speaking. Lunch will be served. four counties to be represented and LeGrand encouraged to attend.
A second rendition of the play Mammy’s Lil Wild Rose drew a fair audience at the community ball Tuesday. Receipts exceeded $33 for the second night, totaling about $84 for both evenings. Patrons included Gleo McCarel and wife of Newburg and others from Marshalltown. Vern Hadnall of Pittman, Sask., visited the Kellogg home. his 1921 threshing bill was $810 and last year $600.
Friends Church posts a full day of activities led by Pastor Hoar G Bippiecou with Bible School at 10 a m and worship at 11. Sermons address The Wise and Foolish Virgins and The Seeking Sinner and the Seeking Savior Salvation. Evening events include Senior Endeavor and Gospel Service. Wednesday includes annual Church Day with basket dinner and prayer meeting. Visitors encouraged.
The Christian Church schedules Sunday School at 10:00 a.m. led by Anna Herbert with morning worship at 11. Christian Endeavor meets at 6:30 p.m. Opal Billick presides on the topic Perseverance In What. Evening worship at 7:30 follows a prayer circle at 7:30 and a church meeting. Easter Eye shower plan adopted again with egg donations requested each Sunday.
Sunday School at 10 a m led by Mrs Clarence Hartwell Superintendent. Morning service at 11 a m. Tuesday evening service at 8 p m mid week service. A cordial welcome to all attendees.
