Local notes tell of a school election set for Monday March 8 in LeGrand. Various residents make business trips and visits in nearby towns including Toledo Mt Ayr Tama Marshalltown and Cedar Falls. A department ad lists mammoth clover seed for sale at nine dollars per bushel.
Walter C Arnold sold his interest in W R Arnold & Sons to his two older brothers Arthur W and Earl R ending a long family business tie. Geo R Arnold remains as clerk and the firm continues as before. Walter plans remain undetermined but he does not intend leaving LeGrand.
Miss Inger Meltvedt returned home for a brief visit on Thursday. John Machin came back from Missouri and will work for Thomas Eames next season. Miss Pearl Brown visited Gilman before returning to Dakota. Edward Peterson moved to the former Tufteskog place in Highland township. Qle Evertson moved to Edward’s place Saturday. OC Kellogg and Mrs Kellogg visited the Lathams. The Eames baby was ill early in the week. Mrs Theodore Strand visited from Newburg. Abel Sawyer visited relatives near Gilman. Omar Eames, of Gilman, visited Thos Bamnes. John and Mrs Latham visited Corney Leech. Mrs A I Smith hosted the Priscilla circle. John Giri visited his uncle Christian Gimli in Marshalltown. Mrs Anna Tow attended the Friends quarterly meeting at Marshalltown.
Henry Wall born January 12 1851 in Tennessee died February 24 1915 at 64.1 2 months. He moved with family to Illinois and Appanoose County then Tama County in 1880s. Married Leta Lowry in 1875. eight children survived: Lydia Young Dora Smith Alina Dobson Lillie Bowen Daisy Anderson Blanch Phenis and Will Wall. Survived by three brothers four sisters and fifteen grandchildren. Services held at Carlton Church with interment in Dobson Cemetery.
LeGrand residents report a busy week of social calls and moving, with many visits among families. Notable items include J L McNair moving to Montrour, Nedland relocating to McNair’s farm, and multiple neighbors swapping homes. Amile Frundle re elected director at LeGrand station by large margin.
Semi political address by temperance advocate John G. Woolley closes a local lecture series. He attacks all parties and denounces alcohol as a social evil. The report notes favorable public reaction and recalls Woolley's personal history as a former drinker. Also included are figures from a district financial statement detailing receipts, expenditures, and outstanding warrants.

Gartton Brethren Church led by Rev C Henderson with Sunday School at 10, preaching at 11, Christian Endeavor at 1, and evening service at 7. The LeGrand station school closed February 26 with ten pupils, six punctual and present. Named students Merle Frendle, Wilma Frendle, Marvin Nodland, Harry Sloat, Herminnie Hlina, Vlasta Hlina. teacher Maupe McNair.
A letter from Charles G. Johnson thanks friends for nominating him to fill Dr. E M Mills vacancy as school director but requests withdrawal of support as he is not a candidate for the position.
