Weddings Tie Two Montour Couples in Marshalltown
Loretta Harem and Wilbur Sawyer wed at the Friends parsonage with Rev. Carl D. Byrd presiding. Attendants included Gerardt Devig. The Sawyers will reside with the groom’s parents north of Dunbar as Sawyer works at the LeGrand elevator. A Sunday dinner for 14 followed. February Blizzard Paralyzes Iowa Towns and Roads
A severe February blizzard halted traffic and closed schools across the region. Monday night snow and gale winds created sky-high drifts, blocking streets and forcing auto abandonment. By Tuesday afternoon, plows improved main routes, but roads remained blocked and schools stayed closed through Wednesday.

LeGrand High School won two games and lost one in the Maxwell district girls basketball tourney. Lynnville impressed early before fading. LeGrand defeated Maxwell and Runnels by double figures, while Lynnville’s star forward scored 20 in one game but only four in another.
