Automatic train control to finish Chicago to Omaha line
The Chicago and North Western Railway announces the final segment of its main line automatic train control from Chicago to Omaha will be completed and in service by May 1. The system will govern all passenger and freight trains up to seventy miles per hour and fifty for freight, with automatic warnings and brakes if safety limits are breached.

Miss Jané Matilda Sawyer longtime LeGrand neighbor hood president died Thursday February 28 at Community hospital Grinnell after six weeks as patient. Born March 10 1858 in Indiana she is survived by three brothers in LeGrand Grinnell and Long Beach California. Funeral services Sunday at the Sawyer home east of Gilman with Rev R S Phillips singing and pallbearers Myron Bertram Sawyer John Swanton Andreas Tone Justin Gunderson Henry Halverson. Burial Stavanger cemetery. Relatives from Chicago Long Beach Grinnell Laurel Marshalltown and other towns attended. You are invited to attend the demonstration at Dunham's store Saturday.
