In Mitchell county the estate of the late Mrs. Pheoda Ann Cole seeks a $5,000 fee from attorneys Ellis and Ells of Charles City and Fudge Clyde of Osage for defending the will dispute. The will favored Miss Ida Johnson, Cole's companion in old age.
Logan Wallace of Logan sustained serious injuries when a car carrying him skidded over an embankment two miles north of Missouri Valley. Mrs. Wallace and the driver escaped injury by jumping from the vehicle.
Knoxville promoter S. C. Frost of Stuart has drawn Pleasantville financiers into a major coal project. The vein lies 200 to 400 feet below the village, and prospectors are at work seeking the vast deposit.
The third summer session at Iowa State college shows 188 registrations, ahead of more than fifty percent over the 144 students enrolled in 1912. Total attendance for the session is estimated around 200.

Marshalltown reports Robert E. Trinkle 28 a Minneapolis and St. Louis railway fireman died instantly when his head was crushed between a box car and the engine frame. He leaves a widow.
Florence Krugler 20, a student at Ames college, died in her aunt’s home by self inflicted gunshot. The death occurred at the residence in Ames. Authorities reported the case as a suicide.
The Mason City assessor reports the year's total assessed value at 11,244,236 dollars, rising by 4,000,000 dollars from the previous year. The gain reflects growth across local property holdings and tax base.

Judge Henry T Reed sentenced him to five years in Stillwater penitentiary with the minimum sentence and commitment held for sixty days for clemency petition to the president. Reed and District Attorney Van Wageman report many letters from friends of Isaac.
The Des Moines Western Baptist association met in Churdan for three days with Rev. Howland Hansen giving four Bible study hours. The annual sermon was preached by Rev. Daniel Reagan of Dow City and featured speakers including Missionary L. Rodgers from Burmah, President John A Hart of Des Moines College, Dry S. E. Wilcox, Prof. Jay A. Lapham, State Evangelist J. D. Pettit and Mrs. G KeinKing among others.
The Cedar Falls program reports enrolment this term surpassing 1,409 with indications of reaching at least 1,500 before the term ends. Last year’s summer term enrolled 1,230 students.

George Gudgel living four miles south of Farragut fatally shot his young daughter in bed beside him and then killed himself. The pair died instantly as family trouble is cited. Two older boys, Gudgel’s parents, and a younger son slept nearby. A Bible left with a letter of instructions.
Milos Hamilton, 11, of Iowa Falls, was injured by a dynamite cartridge explosion in his garage while attempting to detonate it with a hammer and nail. He lost his left thumb and two fingers and requires medical treatment.

The Clifton facility in Graham County Arizona is described as one of the oddest jails. It is carved into a quartz rock hillside with four large apartments and a boxlike cement doorway.
