Bold robbers befuddle officers in Toledo robbery tale

Read by LeGrand residents, the Toledo hold up Friday night ended with the robbers taking a gun from City Marshal Lloyd Thompson and locking him in a city calibrator while the pair fled. A Ford with two men stopped the Will Hoover home two miles west for gasoline but fled after a confrontation, later ambushing travelers on the road and commandeering a car. Constable Piper and the sheriff pursued as the Oldsmobile thefts tied to Mcllrath and Friedmans unfolded, while townsfolk reported other robberies and sightings of suspicious youths. A carload of sugar thefts in Chicago was also noted, and local notices listed sales, visits, and community events.
