Memorial Day services in LeGrand were organized by the Ladies Literary and Musical club. A morning program at the Christian church, a procession to Friends cemetery and Pleasant Hill cemetery with graves decorated, firing squad, and taps followed by a church program headlined by Hon. C. H. Van Law. Music by a male quartet.

LeGrand Air Photo Run Yields One Clear Image
Dean Gaunt and John Paul flew from Gilman to LeGrand in a new airplane taking pictures at 1000 feet. Most shots were blurred or overexposed due to brisk wind. They plan another flight to secure better aerial views and enlarge the best photo. Mrs. Rosa Beechout and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Duncan visited Eli Inman’s home nearby Sunday.

Alumni Banquet Highlights Growth of LeGrand Alumni Club
The 9th Alumni Banquet of the L. G. H. 8. was held May 30 in the school gym with 107 attendees from California Illinois and Iowa. Officers were elected and a banquet served followed by tributes to deceased alumni and a Circus program led by Marvin Nodland with acts by Harlow Mills Verin Davis Harvey Donald Radloff Ralph Beane Berniece Simms and Eunice Arnold Sawyer. The article urges a fireproof building for a planned LeGrand library and museum to house local fossils and relics and to memorialize pioneers with substantial community support urged by Edward Bok and likened to W. R. Lippincott.

LeGrand's team lost 7 to 1 to Melbourne on Melbourne grounds after Perry faltered in the seventh. Jake Thurston held Melbourne to one run in four innings and the infield played airtight as LeGrand hopes to improve. Also Decoration Day saw LeGrand defeat the Ansons of Marshalltown 14 to 4 with Perry Keen and Lathrop/Noll on the battery.

Elk Antler Found In Creek Bed By Hoover Boys
Walter Hoover and his sons Neil and Gene found a three foot elk antler with four full prongs in a muddy creek bed on their property. The massive specimen, though not perfect, is well preserved and suggests the animal may have died in the mud. The discovery drew many neighbors to the Reporter office.
