Le Grand High School Commencement Recap

The Le Grand High School commencement exercises drew a large audience in the school auditorium last week Thursday evening. Decorations featured the class motto Climb though the Rocks Be Rugged and abundant flowers. Dr Li E Follawsbee gave the class address, praised for its quality. The school board president awarded diplomas to the class members, with Myron Twedt and Lilian Een noted among honorees.

Alumni Banquet Highlights Commencement Week Festivities

Seventy six guests dined at three large tables as the Ladies Literary and Musical Club hosted an elaborate banquet. Roses from WH Coughenour of Chicago adorned the tables while greetings were read from former principals Coughenour and T E Mann.

Rev. L. Founanspiee announces a Children’s Day program followed by the Home-Mission offering. The pastor will preach on Motives for Attending Church. At 3 pm Christian Endeavor led by Edith Gaunt on Christian Courtesy. A Farmer in Hard Luck prayer, and a short Sunday school session. Everyone welcome to all services.

Pastor Rev Guy W Harvey leads the morning service at 8 10 am with Margaret Hoover superintendent presiding. Christian Endeavor meets at 7 pm and a preaching service with prayer occurs at 8 pm Wednesday evening.

Memorial Day Observed with Church Service and Veteran Honors

Memorial Day events included a church program at the Christian church with an address by Dr. L B Follansbee. A mixed quartet performed, cemeteries were decorated, and the Friends cemetery service followed. Old Glory flew at half mast and flags were seen throughout town. no Civil War veterans remain, but American Legion members urged future recognition.

Train service curtailed at LeGrand amid schedule changes

Chicago touring party camps for summer fishing trip

A Chicago party of five arrives in town to renew acquaintances and camp north of Town River in a grove on Walter Alden Place. They plan a three month fishing expedition with meals three times daily and aim to explore Minnesota Wisconsin and Michigan regions. The group includes Mrs Wade daughter of Mr and Mrs Hall and engineer Mr Ball who later served as a quarry watchman. A separate notice reports a Carey family reunion at Gren Wilsons near Dillon with about twenty relatives enjoying a large noon dinner.

Funeral for Rev. Benjamin Farquhar Held in Whittier Friends Church

Funeral services for Rev. Benjamin Farquhar were held at Whittier Friends church with Rev. Thomas Newlin, Rev. George A. Dashler, and Rev. Charles S. White officiating. A quartet sang several hymns. interment followed at Whittier Heights cemetery. Farquhar, born October 4 1849 in East Whittier, devoted his life to gospel ministry across multiple states and churches, leaving a legacy of faith and service.
