Man badly injured and loses foot in farm accident
Sam Trentland, a longtime neighborhood resident and Tama county landowner, suffered a severe accident while milking a cow near Long Point. A chain looped the leg, splintering bones and causing gangrene. His foot was amputated midway between ankle and knee in Marshalltown after his brother-in-law learned of his condition.

College buildings to be wrecked after sale to Williams Bros
After years of effort the old college ruins have been sold to Williams Bros of Marshalltown. Demolition will start immediately, with the gymnasium possibly sold to the community if moved. Brick cleaning contract awarded to John Krughel. The academy building may follow soon as part of a complete teardown plan.

Memorial Day Exercises at Christian Church in Marshalltown
Large Memorial Day crowd attended the service with the Marshalltown high school band providing music. Rev. H. F. Martin delivered an unusually meritorious address showing strong sympathy with the day’s spirit. American Legion members attended in uniforms, while only one Grand Army of the Republic member, David W. Beechout, sat in front. The roll of soldiers dead was read, with a suggestion to include six soldiers buried in Rock Valley cemetery.
