Rain brings relief after hot June and yields two inches

A Northwest storm gave a heavy rain that cooled the area last Friday night and into Saturday morning. Reports vary from one inch to nearly two inches, with Uncle Davis Hoover claiming scant two inches. The rainfall saved gardens and helped crops especially potatoes while oats and corn show mixed impact. A Tama City Park reunion for Alfred and Jennie Weitzell’s descendants drew about fifty relatives, with a basket dinner.
