Obituary for John William Latham of LeGrand Marshall County born August 23 1859 in Ararat Pennsylvania died after long illness at his home southeast of LeGrand He is survived by his wife Margaret and son Delmar D Latham two brothers and several siblings preceded in death Funeral services held at Friends Church LeGrand with burial in Friends Cemetery He served on the township board the Friends Academy board and helped organize the Farmers Elevator company of Dunbar He was active in the Friends church and local education and chautauqua efforts

Tarantula on display at Holland store collection

Relief from Heat Brings Cooling Showers Over Region
After ten days of extreme June heat, clouds and heavy showers arrived Wednesday forenoon, lowering temperatures by about twenty five degrees. By Thursday morning the thermometer stood at 75, bringing relief and benefiting crops notably corn while small grain suffered from heat and drought.
Three Hampshires Sent to Panama by Uncle Pemberton
Uncle Albert Pemberton shipped three fancy Hampshires to the Canal Zone Panama last week. His son Rollie supplied one more male making four in this region. The shipment was part of a carload prepared by R L Clay of Marshalltown for U S Government contacts in Panama to raise farm animal standards there.

Work to Start on M. and St. L. Viaduct Project
The M and St. L. viaduct will begin work this week with equipment arriving.
