Many relatives and friends attended the funeral of Rev. Joseph L Beane held Tuesday at 2 pm at the Friends church. Willard L Peckham of Marshalltown led the service with assistance from Rev J R Wright. Burial followed in the Friends cemetery with pallbearers H D Hoover N O Keen L A Hammond C God Johnson Joseph Reed and A H Pemberton. A number of attendees traveled from distant towns including John T Beane Davenport Mr and Mrs Louis Shutts Van Horn Mr and Mrs A Moon Granddale Mrs Elias Bueghley Mr and Mrs W L Peckham Mrs William Nichols Mrs S O Lampman and Mrs E Pickard all of Marshalltown.

Joseph L. Beane of Le Grand Ta died January 2 1916 at 62 years. He was born March 12 1853 near Firmington Maine and descended from Mayflower stock. Survived by Abbie Jacobs Beane his wife two sons Albert L and Burnice H of Le Grand, four grandsons and brother John T Beane of Davenport. He preached as a Friends minister, authored The Riven Veil, and was remembered for his uplifting influence and gentle nature.
Frank J. Cheney & Co declare oath as senior partners in Toledo Ohio that the firm will pay one hundred dollars for every case of catarrh cured by Hall's Catarrh Cure. Notary A. W. Gleason records the declaration dated December 6. The remedy is described as taken internally and acting on mucous surfaces with testimonials available.

Beginning January 24 Rev Rov C Helfenstein of Urbana Illinois joins the Christian church for a week of doctrinal talks and sub topics on baptism and related themes. Sunday School at 9 45 a m and preaching at 11 00 a m continue with junior C E at 5 00 p m and Endeavor groups at 6 39 p m. Prayer meeting offered at 7 30 p m Wednesday. Everyone welcome.
