Vandervelde Mills Wedding at Friends Church
Miss Marjorie Mills and Mr Andrew Vandervelde were wed at 8 o clock New Year’s Eve in the Friends church with Rev. Guthrie performing the ceremony using the ring service. The bridal party included Marian Mills and H. L. Losey, with music by Mrs L. E. Johnson and Harlow Mills. The reception followed at the bride’s home and the couple left for Ames. The bride, daughter of Dr and Mrs E. M. Mills, grew up in LeGrand and studied at Penn and Ames. groom’s parents live in Emmetsburg.

Funeral of Mrs. John Krughel in Friends church area
Mrs John Krughel died Thursday December 26 from pneumonia after a stroke. Born Laura Adeline Warrick at Somerton Ohio seventy one years ago she had two marriages and five children from the first. She lived in Mount Vernon and Le Grand with her husband and family. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Friends church with Rev Taylor Guthrie in charge. Burial was in the Friends cemetery with pallbearers named and many relatives attending from Marshalltown Clinton Ellsworth State Center and surrounding areas.

Township Board Organized at Dillon Meeting
The township trustees met Monday afternoon to close the year’s business and induct Ed Harem as a new member. Charles China was re-elected chairman with A A Wolken as clerk and Fred Nuese completing the trio. They plan to tackle road improvements under the Secondary road law, aiming to build substantial township roads with available funds and community input, with good wishes for 1930.
