Mr. E. B. Pardee of Marshalltown visited LeGrand to assess an old college property for a planned retirement home. He envisions the building as a sanitary, affordable residence with a multiuse layout, revenue from a potential electric line, and stock-raising prospects, urging a local organized company to realize dividends for investors. The article also notes New Year's gatherings, local family visits, and business interests including an upcoming cattle and farm sale and confirmed plans for an electric power line corridor through nearby towns.
Rev A J Hanson and Rev J Atperr Dens lead ongoing revival meetings with Bible school at 9:45 to 10:00 a.m. and preaching at 11:00 a.m. Junior and Senior Endeavor sessions scheduled with prayer meetings Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Attendees invited to all services and to bring friends.
Claus Rasmus a longtime LeGrand resident of 44 years died Sunday December 29 after a short illness. Born October 26 1827 in Haugesund Norway he lived a quiet life and was well known in the community. He married Sarah Johnson in 1859 then moved to LeGrand in 1868. Surviving are daughter Emma died 1912 three surviving children Mary Weaver John Rasmus Anna Haskins and two brothers in Norway. Funeral Wednesday at the Friends church conducted by Rev A J Hanson. Burial in Friends cemetery. Lost were three silver dollars between town square and the church reported December 24.
