Anna Kempe released from St Thomas hospital lists new address at 219 Main St. Family reunion and Christmas dinner held at Herman Wolken home. Oyster supper for LeGrand high class of 27 hosted by Howard Sanders with attendees from Penn College State University of Iowa and local towns.
Born at Oberammergau Harry Brucklacher of Dillon was a caller in LeGrand Tuesday. He visited Reporter headquarters to advance his subscription and spoke of his mother’s birth and early years in Oberammergau. He recalled local references to Roy Helfenstein and Josie Beane, with family ties through Mary Ann Zerrer and Michael Brucklacher.

LeGrand Collegians routed Marshall Bears 42 to 20 on their home floor in a spectacular Tuesday night contest. Earlier, Toledo beat Clemons 25 to 22 and Garwin defeated State Center 52 to 24. LeGrand Toledo and Garwin hold a .667 first division percentage.
The Blue Pencil urges renewals to cover Christmas deficits and upcoming insurance due, noting past reader support. Miss Wilma Gaunt vacationing in Waterloo with Uncle and Aunt McAllister. The Merry Maids and Fishermen U. S. classes of the Friends church held a party at A. H. Pemberton home with a good time reported.
H C Herbert attended a county seat session on the new value assessment system taught by Mr Hall of the Des Moines state tax commission. The $800 cost for new blanks drew reluctance from the board of supervisors, while township trustees fear reduced local input as outsiders evaluate property. The piece questions centralized control and argues for on the ground assessment by local officials unless outsiders can prove clearer fairness.

From Our Special Correspondent reports a sequence of tidy social items in Quaker Lane. Mrs Charles Harris hosts Tuesday gathering while Virginia Keen stays with Clyde Hoover. Neighbors include Perisho bill of health, wood cutting by Harold Perisho and Jerome Lundy, and Kalsem family visits to Knudson home.
Trinity Lutheran Church Dillon led by Rev Theo E Hinck offers Sunday School at 10 o'clock and Divine Services at 10 30. Carlton Brethren Church with Rev Alvin L Moyer holds Sunday School at 10 a m Morning Worship at 11 and Evening Worship at 7 30 p m.
Quarry Chapel led by Pastor L T Hibbs holds Sunday School at 10 and church service at 11 with Clarence Hartwell as superintendent. A notice lists monthly electric bills from Iowa Railway and Light Co with penalties for late payment and a representative visiting LeGrand for collection. Visitors to Marshalltown may use the office as a rest room and social space. Christmas Day hosts included the Piper family and relatives from Marshalltown Eldora Albion and others.
Former Le Grand resident Parker Davis Harvey died at 6 15 PM Friday December 26 after a stroke. Born January 31 1866 in Washington county he moved to Hubbard young and later served two terms as Le Grand mayor. He married Hattie Hodgson in 1890 and had four children living at Newburg Spencer Le Grand and Olinton S D. He is survived by grandchildren sisters and a brother. Funeral services were held at Newburg then Hubbard with Masonic grave rites led by Le Grand lodge and several relatives mentioned among pallbearers and attendees.
