Rumor named Bruce Baumgardner, but Ben Baumgardner confirmed the flight as part of a Bolivian trip en route to Mason City for Christmas, revealing a family connection.

Lynn Richards Promoted to Captain at Sumter Flying School
Lynn A. Richards of Franklin has been promoted to captain at the Army Air Forces Basic Flying School near Sumter South Carolina. He enlisted September 9 1940 and earned his wings at Maxwell Field Alabama April 25 1941 serving as an instructor at Gunter and Shaw Fields. He married Olive Mullin June 6 1941 in Montgomery and they live at Victory Apartments Peach Street Sumter. Their son Lynn Jr born April 19 of this year.
