LeGrand rural postman Ira M. Gaunt suffered scratches when his team and wagon collided with an Illinois car on the paving south of town. Four men rode in the coupe and his wagon tongue was broken while the car’s radiator was badly jammed, delaying travel but leaving all involved largely uninjured.

Pittman couple to celebrate fiftieth wedding anniversary
Rev. and Mrs. Robert W. Pittman of LeGrand will mark their fiftieth wedding anniversary with an open house at the Christian church parsonage next Tuesday from 2 to 5 p.m. sponsored by Leaf River and North Grove churches. The couple have a long ministry history across eight states and 19 churches, with Pittman recently retiring after 20 years as resident pastor in Leaf River. They have three daughters, two living in Polo with four grandchildren, and several surviving siblings. Mrs. Pittman was born in Danville in 1860.
