LeGrand hog breeders hold successful auction near town
C T Keen & Sons sold Chester White hogs at their Keen farm west of town on Saturday Feb 1. About fifty head averaged $70 with top bid $150 paid by Jurgens Bros of Van Horne. Buyers from eight states, mail bids sent hogs to twelve states. Crowd of about 500 attended the sale at a new pavilion built by the Keen family. The Keens, former 4H club leaders, are noted breeders competing in county state and national fairs. WGTU The WCRU met with Mrs Retta Bigelow. meeting led by president Edna Beane. A devotional and fund request was approved. a narcotics lesson given. refreshments served.
