Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Beane left for Cherokee where they were called by the illness of Mrs. Beane s brother. Uncle Daves Hoover passed his 80th milestone Tuesday. Groundhog failed to see his shadow. PTA postponed to Feb 23 for Washington Bicentennial program due to Friends church meetings. David Erickson returned from Eldora after ten days in hospital for mastoid trouble. Mrs. Omar Manship has returned to Gilman after helping at May Radloff home. Chas G Johnson is sick with pleurisy likely to pneumonia. O W Johnson and family and others attended a lecture by Jack Miner in Ames. Dean Gaunt wears two feathers in his basketball cap for championships with Collegians and Toledo Legionaires. A group surprised Mrs Graham, the telephone operator, to help her quilt. WCT A met with Mrs Herman Wolken Feb 2 with sixteen present. Junior P B met with twenty members and visitors. New president Charles Specht presided. Social hour and programs led by Mary Lois Beane, Dorothy Dunham and Audrey Hall. Refreshments served by several members.

The LeGrand school board met last Tuesday night February 2 with full attendance. Betty Peterson received a party in the third and fourth grade room. High school visitors Mildred Gaunt Dale Keen and Donald Hoover attended last week. The junior class to perform Go Slow Mary on February 15 and 16. Mrs Myron Sawyer substitutes for absent Miss Benson and Miss Parsons teaches the third and fourth grades for Mrs Fonken. The high school basketball teams remain undefeated with a ninth straight win at Lamoille, girls 64 18 and boys 39 13. Wedding Bells for Miss Dorothy M Paul and Gilbert H Nuese
Miss Dorothy Mildred Paul and Gilbert Harold Nuese were married at Dillon Lutheran church in a single ring ceremony officiated by Rev Theo Hinck. Attendants were Arthur Nuese and his wife. The couple will reside on a farm near Clemons after a three course supper with relatives. Mrs Nuese is a Marshalltown High School graduate from 1930.

Death of William Breckel in Quarry area
William Breckel of Quarry, former Marshalltown resident, died at 6 40 am at Deaconess hospital after five weeks there from a lung abscess. Born Feb 23 1899 near Marshalltown he married Nellie Caputo Feb 12 1923 at Toledo. Survived by wife daughter Helen eight mother Frances Breckel and six siblings. He had been in failing health two years and worked for Lennox Fur.
