Guthrie Center Iowa mourns as veteran editor and political figure H Gri sell age 67 dies at home. He first came to Iowa in 1867 and returned later in 1880. He edited the Menlo Gazette from 1893 and purchased the Guthrian in 1899. He served as director of the county fair and secretary of the agricultural society for fifteen years.

Dog Gausés Hunting Accident Feared Fatal

In Oskaloosa Wilbur Kentfield may die after a hunting accident where his own dog caused a shotgun to discharge. He held the gun cocked as the dog struck the trigger. He lost a hand and suffered neck injuries, and doctors warn of possible death. Girl Bound and Gagged in Algona Shed

Ruth Stump a fifteen year old girl was found gagged and bound to a table in a shed behind her Algona home. She said a man with gray whiskers who asked for food attacked her. Nothing was stolen and no trace of the assailant was found.

Death of Iowa Pioneer in Pasadena Home

George W. L. Alexander, 62, Iowa pioneer and longtime adjutant general, was found dead in his Pasadena home. Born September 11, 1843 in West Point, he enlisted early in the Civil War, later served as Iowa adjutant general under Governors Gear, Sherman, and Larrabee, and was paymaster in the regular army before retiring to California.

Start Short Course Tour Ames Three Special Trains

Three special trains with three crews nine cars and live stock valued at 12000 have left Ames for a four month state tour by Iowa State College extension. Each crew has seven men and two women carrying equipment for a week long short course in a baggage stock and exhibit car. Waterloo to Open Nation’s Only Painters and Decorators Trade School

Old Bridge Is Abandoned After 44 Years Of Service

Woman Prisoner Escapes From Muscatine Jail

Mrs. Adam Mohr alias Mrs. Anna Koch, a suspected swindler with operations in several western states totaling about 15000, escaped after feigning illness. She slipped through an open door on a tower floor aided by a jailers wife, then fled to freedom. Mohr was later arrested at Burlington for swindling Rev. L. M. Kettlecamp of Muscatine out of 3125.

Champion Gopher Catcher in Harrison County

Logan-Joe Simmons, champion gopher catcher and tran inventor of western Towa, has trapped 3,439 gophers in Harrison County this fall and cashed in with the county auditor. Last year his Harrison County total was 4,608 gophers. Pottawattamie counts are not yet announced.
