Leghorn pullet D4218 bred by Otto Rueble of Pleasant Valley Dutchess County completed the $35 egg record on October 7 as officials of the Record of Performance association in New York state note. At the 1931 Syracuse New York state fair Prof L M Hurd named her grand champion pullet of all breeds. The pullet D4218, from 25 years of breeding, yields eggs weighing 32 ounces to the dozen and has 68 sisters averaging over 240 eggs annually. During the first 140 days of testing she laid an egg each day.
