Des Moines reports December 20 as the final date for registering 1916 cars. Over 197,038 registrations already filed, with a yearly gain of more than 50,000. new 1917 plates will continue in the 197,000 series and receipts will be issued instead of physical plates. Delinquent fees after April 1 will trigger legal collection. county attorneys notified.
A school report highlights student strengths with praise for high marks in Reading Spelling and Geography while noting good performance in Arithmetic Music and other subjects. Thanksgiving break caused a two day closure and two visiting speakers addressed students Rev Schult and Rev A W Hamimond. Alumni Haze O Neall, Grinnell Scarlet and Black, and LeGrand High School graduate marked notable achievements. Absent or tardy lists for each grade are provided for the last month.
Revival services at the Friends church attract strong attention as Rev. Arthur Hammond preaches impactful sermons. Friday evening focuses on pupils with hopes parents will ensure children attend. Open to all, messages target the young people on the topic The Breaking of a Young Male. Sunday at 2:30 pm a men and boys meeting led by Rev. J. R. Wright discusses The Men and the Church.
Subscriptions are due with small amounts totaling at least 130 dollars to be cashed at once by Mr. and Mrs. Wm Diesing in the county seat and Mr. and Mrs. Rogers in Anita. Mrs. D. W. Beechout hosted visitors Monday while a sheriff’s report of a stolen auto headed west on the Lincoln Highway caused a crowd to gather in Menteur but the thief did not appear.

Our Churches Friends Church led by Rev J R Waiowr and Rev Arthur Hammond hosts Sunday School at 10 and 1 with morning and evening sermons. Christian Church under Rev Pearvey E Suont offers 9 45 a m Sunday School and 11 a m preaching with junior and intermediate Endeavor groups. revival meetings at Friends church mean no evening service. Everybody welcome.
