Clarence Goecke of State Center Iowa guides his Hereford steer Dick to the International Live Stock Show grand champion title. The 12-year-old earned about $9,000 from prize money and auction sale as Marshall County racks up multiple prizes with nine beeves shown. December P T A Meeting At High School Auditorium
The December meeting of the P T A will be held at the high school auditorium Tuesday evening December 11 at the usual hour. Rev W L Harper pastor of Central Christian church Marshalltown will give the address. An offering will be taken to cover expenses. Families are asked to bring one dozen meat sandwiches and dishes for personal needs. Everyone welcome and urged to attend.

A Thanksgiving night blizzard left nine inches of snow blanketing the countryside. The state road crew cleared from the county seat to the M and St. L viaduct, but quit there, leaving packed ice and unsafe travel. Multiple cars ended in ditches between town and Emmett Rubenbauer's as a result of the half-finished removal.
