Gifts for Jamaica Reach Jamaica via Friends Church Drive

About seventy presents chiefly balls dolls and embroidery were collected at the Friends church Sunday by members and the Sunday school for Jamaica. An offering for missions was taken a missionary playlet was enacted by Mesdames Sanders Guthrie Rank Dougherty and Sloat Ruth Guthrie sang. The gifts and other articles including sheets donated by Mrs Johnson were packed Monday at Miss Cora Hoover's home and sent to Jamaica.

Moosehide Moccasins Featured At Editor's Home

A baby wearing moosehide moccasins is showcased at the editor’s home. The moccasins were crafted from moose hide by Indigenous tanning methods, cured in dense smoke, and decorated with multicolored beads. Also noted are local social visits: Leroy Richards of Waterloo visited his mother Rosa Richards last Thursday, and Gilbert Mote of Marshalltown and family visited Elizabeth Mote. Additional visits include F. D. Sanborn of Tama to Rebecca Graham and Grace Ray, and Ralph Hoover of Clinton with four children to Walter Weitzeil’s home.
