Census of Farms Heads Toward Our Way

Washington November 15 1924 the Department of Commerce announced a census of agriculture to cover the crop year near January 1 1995. It will be the first census taken midway between decennial censuses, with 15000 to 20000 enumerators. It seeks data on farm production farm value farm facilities marketing and road access to market towns. Watch for the blue pencil on your paper. Fresh cow for sale and local notices follow. Thanksgiving theme dominates high school program

Last week at the high school featured songs and studies with themes on Thanksgiving and the President's Proclamation. Students prepared plays, book reports due behavior noted, and classes worked on holiday projects while seniors planned capcakings and juniors reported on a Garwin game trip.

Christian Endeavor Rally Reported With 130 Delegates

The Ninth District Town Christian Endeavor Union rally was held last Friday afternoon and evening with 130 registered delegates. Rev. H. W. Cope, Rev. W. K. Williams of Marshalltown, and Rev. T. F. Campbell of Fairfield spoke. Miss Lida Matley, Miss Lois Blanchard, and Rev. I. F. Campbell led efficiency conferences. LeGrand societies performed readings and music under Mrs. Arthur Roe. A large Clemens delegation attended the evening event. Miss Ethel Erickson of Marshalltown directed the county slate. Families and locals noted in attendance and area movements were listed, including Fred Van Horn visiting Cedar Rapids and a move by Guy W. Harvey to Marshalltown.

Christian Church Morning Worship and Activities

The Christian Church announces services led by Rev. L E Fortaxsnes with Church School at 10:00 a m and Morning Worship at 11:00 a m on the theme The Empty House. Evening Worship at 7 00 p m features Broad Cast Upon the Waters. Midweek prayer circle 7 30 followed by business meeting. Edith Gaunt presides over Christian Endeavor at 6 30 p m on In His Steps. Consecra tion Meeting led by Maxine Gaunt at 7.30 with full church attendance expected. A Thanksgiving service occurred Thursday morning with Rev Harvey delivering the message. Women’s Christian Temperance Union Meets in December

The December meeting of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union was hosted by Mrs. N. O. Keev on Tuesday afternoon December 2. Mrs. Lois Sloat led the program with a paper on Moral Purity read by Mrs. Alice Sloat and a reading by Mrs. P. A. Sanders titled My Son. A general discussion and song followed. The next meeting is scheduled for January 6, 1925 at Mrs. Walter Reed’s home with Citizenship as the topic.
