After a Thanksgiving break the school resumes work with a Dec. 16 local declamatory contest in view. Laurel girls beat LeGrand 36 to 23. Le Grand boys crush Laurel 82 to 10 and prep to travel to Liscomb next Friday. Attendance improves with 15 pupils never absent or tardy. several students named for six weeks perfect or high marks.

Two Auto Upsets Reported After Thanksgiving Fog
Last week two minor auto accidents were noted. Walter Kellogg and wife swerved to avoid a horse on wet pavement near Marshalltown and went into a ditch, suffering minor injuries though the car was nearly hospitalbound. Station Agent Burke and family, returning from Chelsea, also hit a ditch in thick fog, with cuts from flying glass but no serious injuries.

Children’s Home Receives Donation and Thanks
Mrs J L Harrison sends gratitude for a donation of 2 17 and a 36 pound box of chickens and supplies from H R Lemen of the Children’s Home Council Bluffs. The Literary and Musical Club met at Mrs J F Smaha’s home with 22 members reporting names of old settlers and a piano solo by Mrs Karl Simms.
