LeGrand girls beat Ferguson 22 to 17 as E Fuller and Erickson led with strong inside play. In the boys game LeGrand triumphed 25 to 15 over Ferguson, with White and Cutler among top scorers and Ferguson showing improved defense. The double header featured lineup notes and a brief referee call.
In LeGrand and nearby areas for over seven decades whites have kept ties with Tama County Indians. The article recalls Chief Pushetonequa who died nineteen years ago this November after forty years of leadership. His burial on the hill above the Iowa river featured a sitting-in-chief casket, north-facing, new garments, and black and white face paint.
