Rosenwald Capper President Confer On Farm Relief

Julius Rosenwald of Chicago and Senator Arthur Capper of Kansas met with President Coolidge at White Pine camp. Rosenwald urged strengthening cooperative marketing and tariffs on hides while considering reducing aluminum tariffs. Florida Realtors Held on Fraud Charge in Florida

More than 40 officials and employees of the Florida Cities Finance Company and the Stanley Realty and Development Company were bond and indicted on a mail fraud charge tied to real estate sales and development. Florida Cities Finance, led by Merle C. Tebbetts, developed Fulford-by-the-Sea near Miami while Stanley Realty promoted Arcadia Gardens near Arcadia. Arthur Dunas of Chicago was president of Stanley Realty.

Retail Food Prices Fall in 44 Cities in July Report

Labor department data show a 2 per cent drop in the national food price index to 157 for the period ending July 15, with 14 items cheaper led by potatoes down 18 per cent. Thirteen items rose about 3 per cent, fifteen unchanged. Cleveland down 5 per cent the largest decline, while Kansas City fell 4 per cent. Several cities saw price increases, including Manchester and New Orleans at about 2 per cent, with Birmingham and Houston near flat.

Wheat acreage for winter sowing tops 45 million in Washington

Department of Agriculture reports from about 40,000 farmers show 45,064,000 acres to be sown to winter wheat this year in Washington. The figure is 14.4 percent above last fall and would rank among the largest sown in years aside from 1918 1920 1921 and 1922.

Double Murder Case in New Brunswick District

Henry de la Bruyere Carpender and Willie Stevens are held without bail in Somerset County on charges they murdered Dr Edward W Ball and Dir Eleanor Mills on the Phillips farm near New Brunswick four years ago. Mrs Frances Stevens Hall widow of the slain clergyman is free on 15000 bail awaiting grand jury action on a murder charge. The state had moved for first degree indictments against Carpender and Stevens and an effort to revoke Mrs Hall’s bail was announced.
