Guns Belch Lead In Cattle Dipping Conflict

Texarkana, Ark L K Person, a wealthy planter and politician, is charged with the murder of L H Simmons, a range rider and former Texarkana police chief, amid a cattle dipping war across southern Arkansas. Parachute Jumper Survives Manhattan Bridge Stunt

Shinich Misumi a 22 year old Japanese cook who designed his own parachute jumped from the Manhattan Bridge believing it would open. The chute failed to deploy but aided his fall. He surfaced swam to a pier and was taken to Bellevue hospital for observation. He said he spent three months building the parachute and had considered the Woolworth tower before choosing the bridge. He was unharmed beyond being shaken and possibly waterlogged.
