Curtis Aviator Makes Two Short Flights At Marshalltown
A large crowd gathered at the Marshalltown fairgrounds for Curtis machine flights by Robt. C. St. Henry of San Diego Cal. Wind kept him grounded until 6 30 pm when two flights were completed. The second flight went farther and higher before a brace on the elevator broke and he stopped. St. Henry announced aircraft specs including 34 ft wing span 29 ft from elevator to rudder 8 ft propeller 70 hp engine weight 600 lbs with 290 lb motor. He weighs 156 lbs and uses spruce and bamboo in construction. Flights since June total 66 with future appearances planned in Lead SD and Regina Saskatchewan.

Forbes Larson Tie The Knot In Seattle Marriage

Sunday School Picnic at Blodgett Farm Aug 10
Friends and Christian Sunday schools plan a grand union picnic at Blodgett farm on Thursday August 10 with 8:30 a.m. church departures. Program includes literary and musical entertainment, races such as peanut scramble relay wheelbarrow and tub, nail-driving contest for married women, a big free dinner at 12:30, ball games for all ages, LeGrand Concert band, and various amusements. Proceeding to swimming and swings, attendees urged to bring baskets and enjoy the day.
