Joseph Davidson log site marked for LeGrand Homecoming
A LeGrand Homecoming feature plans August 14 and 15 to dedicate a marker at the Joseph Davidson log cabin site. A granite boulder will support a bronze tablet funded by the Marshall County Historical Society with Edgar R. Harlan, Des Moines curator, coming for the event. Additional marker ideas include a site north of town on the Reed farm.

Derward Humphrey’s Farm Accident With Broken Ribs
Derward Humphrey suffered a serious fall while smoothing a straw stack using a long rake. His shoulder blade snagged on a rack, nearly dislocating the shoulder, and he was taken to Deaconess hospital for X rays. The exam revealed two fractured ribs and about two inches of the clavicle broken off.
