Sudden Death at North Quarry Claims Engineer
William Vaughn, engineer of the donkey engine at the north quarry, collapsed and died at 5 30 Wednesday afternoon while renewing the fire. He fell between the car and engine as workers carried him to the office house, where attempts to revive him failed. Coroner deemed heart failure. no inquest. Vaughn, of 4044 Bromley Street, Marshalltown, was in his second quarry season and had been health advised to treat dental issues.
