LeGrand dramatics win praise for Blue Teapot win

Miss Dorothy Turner directed LeGrand's drama group which earned Superior and Excellent ratings at a state test in Iowa City for The Blue Teapot by Jean Lee Latham. Cast included Vancil Rowlison Dorothy Olson Betty Peterson Oscar Rhodes with John Kroghel providing the teapot prop.

Garden Club Elects Officers For Coming Year

The Garden Club met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Wolken with Mrs. Wolken presiding. Officers elected: President B. H. Beane, vice president Minnie Wolken, secretary-treasurer Annie Dougherty. New appointments included calendar committee Addie Knudson John Rylander Edna Johnson and flower committee Anna Duncan Anna Shope. The club will meet on the first Monday each month. Plans were laid to host the Marshalltown Garden Club in June. Next meeting is April 7 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Knudson with topic Winter Injury to Fruit.

LeGrand High School News Highlights From Tuesday Activities

LeGrand High School reports a Tuesday program featuring an educational movie by Mr Burns Bryam, praise for Home Economics cooperation, hot lunch service data, and biology class dissections revealing a large tapeworm and twelve round worms. The senior play and music contest prep are noted, with seventh to sixth grade attendance and studies also described.

LeGrand Friends Church announces weekly schedule

Leonard E. Wines is pastor. Sunday services begin with Sunday School at 10 a.m. Morning Worship at 11. Evening services include Christian Endeavor at 6:45 and Bible Message at 7:30. Mid week activities cover choir practice at the parsonage Wednesday and cottage prayer meeting Thursday.

Mrs Martha Jenkins of Greeley celebrated her 101st birthday last week. J J Clark of Guthrie Center shot a large timber wolf measuring 71 inches long. A thief robbed R J Wallace of Independence while he slept, taking his trousers with money and keys. Hamburg youngsters face curfew at 10 o clock as the fire whistle will be blown then. Helen Boyken of Woden could not escape after her car overturned. she honked for half an hour before help arrived. Mrs Art Kluckhohn of Garner will soon eat ripe tomatoes from her own garden after fall planting. A West Pilot church raised on blocks was moved four feet by strong winds, causing damage. Mr and Mrs Frank Kiser of Union Mills celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. their daughter and husband, Mr and Mrs R C Duffus, celebrated their 25th anniversary. Hats blown at Union and Main streets in Dyersville were retrieved, except Freymann’s hat landed on a store roof. Friendly Society members in Nashua hosted an antique vs modern hat design night. Irvington patrons failed to elect officers due to discussion. wives will hear explanations. Mrs R E Tennant of Clarion suffered a heart attack, fell, and telephones on the switchboard moaned before a doctor arrived. Michels, the night operator, could not answer but heard the moan. A note on a left handed monkey wrench mentions the joke’s on them. Jack Skeel of Grundy Center owns one with reversed threads for a left handed user. Henry Medinger of Davenport got $10 from a St. Louis salesman who splashed water, then paid a $100 car accident fine and went to jail.
