Auto accident injures ten year old Clyde Reick near Main Street
About 1 o clock Wednesday Clyde Reick ten year old stepson of J L Wright and son of Mrs Wright was run over by a car driven by Jerome Tow in front of the Friends church while chasing a ball. He suffered severe injuries including a nearly severed ear and facial cuts but was reported improving Thursday morning and likely to recover.

Earthquake and Quarry Blast Rattle North Town

Electric line punctured after stone blast near quarries
A large stone from a south quarry blast struck electric lines feeding a 4400 volt system and cut power to the area. Phone operators report a fire alarm misfire as local phones rang and Dunham store staff rushed to aid. Several lines remained dead north of the quarries.

Maxina Mahle of LeGrand Consolidated School won the Marshall County spelling contest in Marshalltown securing a ten dollar prize. Eugene Beckwith from Clemons was runner up spelling abscess.
