Area Cotton Harvest Expected To Top Last Year
South Western Oklahoma faces a strong cotton season says Elmer Provence of the University Extension Service. He projects Jackson County will harvest about 40 000 acres this year up from 38 000 last year with irrigated land around Eldorado and Duke and via the Altus Luger irrigation district. Projections cover Harmon Tillman Greer counties and note late planting due to heavy spring rains with bollworm pressure remaining light.
