Early Warning Saves Kansas Town in Tornado
Greenleaf Kansas residents thanks to Leonard Walter who drove through streets blasting horns and family calls, sparing many from harm. The tornado hit at 8 40 pm Tuesday, killing Angela 4 and Harmyin 1 Buhr and injuring three others. Cleanup began amid rain as volunteers fed survivors and scarce electricity lingered. A tank of anhydrous ammonia ruptured but blowback gas drifted away helped by a south wind.
