Oklahoma Faces Out In Recreation Funds
Oklahoma will lose about 700000 from the Federal Land and Water Conservation Fund in fiscal 1974, down from 2.5 million in recent years. Parks head Chris Delaporte says the Nixon administration is reducing federal recreation roles, with most state park land leased from the feds. He cites a 15 million county needs gap and Tulsa and Oklahoma City asks of 3 million and 717000. He aims to restore 1975 funding and notes the fund accrues from taxes and leases regardless of appropriations.
