Strauss plans second whistlestop campaign train
Democratic party chairman Robert Strauss said a second whistlestop trip for Jimmy Carter and Walter Mondale is planned for mid-October, after success during the New York to Chicago run. Mondale and Strauss hailed the tour's reach across Ohio and Indiana and Carter’s rising momentum with Rosalynn Carter praising the trip. The plan aims to put Carter and Mondale in a positive, people oriented setting across rural towns and cities, with an estimated cost around $100,000.
