Seven Seek Separate Trials in Oklahoma City and Muskogee
OKLAHOMA CITY AP Seven of 13 defendants named in a federal indictment asked Tuesday to have their trials separated and held in Oklahoma City while Leo Winters and ex partner Robert Grove seek to move their trials to Muskogee. Seven Guaranty Bank directors led the separation bid arguing a single trial would flood jurors with evidence and that they face guilt by association. Winters plans to ask the Supreme Court for a 30 day extension to appeal a venue ruling and the group faces charges of extortion mail fraud and conspiration to misapply funds in state banks.
