Railway Strike Vote Cancelled at Santa Fe Line
A rally of 15 non operating unions of the Santa Fe Railway led to canceling a strike vote to allow more time for union company negotiations with a federal mediator. Francis O Neill of the National Railway Mediation Board said the move aims to aid talks with May meetings planned. The dispute centers on union shop terms and use of unions dues. About 50 000 employees, mainly clerks telegraphers and office workers, are represented.
