Hospital items and family notices listed for the weekend

The clipping records hospital admissions and dismissals with names and addresses, then shifts to a schedule of swim and activity classes for youth and adults at the Y, including dates, times, and fees. It notes several births and surgeries among local residents.

Medina Defense Plans Case Start Monday

The five officer jury heard Medina’s defense will call far fewer witnesses than the 22 murders alleged at My Lai. Col. F. Lee Bailey predicted Calley may refuse to testify. Henderson, ex commander involved in the assault, is requested as a defense witness and faces court martial at Fort Meade Maryland on charges of cover up. Fort Meade sources testified before the Army rested its case. Robert Brisentine Jr., Army CID polygraph chief, limited testimony to interview substance rather than test results as lie detector data. He quoted Medina saying he shot a woman after noticing movement and that he learned troops killed civilians two to two and a half hours after the attack began. Medina claimed he wanted artillery and helicopter fire to justify the killings, though he believed Calley’s actions were the core cause.

OU's new dental school planned to open next fall faces a crisis due to a general lack of federal funds. Nancy Davies, chair of the OU Regents medical center committee, said the project is in a critical situation with only $9 million in federal money available now and $90 million more expected later, while other health schools seek $300 million nationwide. Oklahoma congressmen are reportedly working to secure funding.
