Local clubs churches and organizations announce upcoming gatherings through the week. Gamma sororities Beta Sigma Phi Xi Tau host socials while Presbyterian Women and First Methodist Wesleyan Service plan programs, committees, and guest speakers across town venues with note of times locations and hosts.
Jefferson PTA Board held a seven pm executive session in the school library to approve a budget and upcoming programs. Attendees included principal Ward Cracken and several trustees and staff, with the event titled Blueprints for the Future.
A call goes out for volunteers to support the Camp Fire Girls in Lawton area schools. Membership is rising in Blue Birds and junior groups with senior groups showing growth. Orientation and basic training courses are planned for new leaders during September and October.
Board members will report on ticket sales at 10 a.m. The meeting of Lawton Boss and Phil RevirwElle Mrs. Wre Bridges, president, will preside at the session to be held in their home.
Mrs Edward Greb hosts a home demonstration in Indiahoma with Mrs PL Wari presiding. Mrs Cyanfill spoke, and the next meeting was scheduled at Aly’s home with refreshment service for attendees.
Mrs Everett Burke hosted the Northside Baptist Woman’s Missionary Society meeting at her home, marking Nerina McMillan Week with a program led by Edith Selgter Zimmerman Roxie Minning Grace Geigman Justus Harley Willingham and Chester EAs. A circle prayer for global and local missionary work concluded the session.
RCA Wives name a new officer slate at a 7:00 p.m. meeting held at the home of Mrs. RB W Brown 609 Columbia. Officers include Mrs JON Bristol as vice president Mrs G By dones recording secretary and Mrs GC Anderson treasurer with Terry as nominating committee chair. Formal installation is set for October. A fall picnic planning committee is named including Mrs D Sandana V J and Mesdames Brown Bell. Committees for constitution revision and rumination signel are appointed with Mesdains F Satt and N L Barhi. Social hour follows refreshments served by Mesdames Brown and Bristol co hosts.
A chaotic calendar shows numerous PTA events at the school auditorium with times around 7:30 pm. Guest speakers include Mrs G G Goodier and Rev Clarence Ridge, plus John D Shormaker and Sam Joyner Jr. An orientation period and nursery provided accompany Swinney, Tall, and Washington PTAs with elections and executive meetings noted.
Seven new members joined the Fuji club at a 1 59 p m meeting held at Mrs J O Toskeys home in Hoover with G T Purcell as co host. Mrs W A Gavigan presided over a business session outlining fall activities and members voted to add two hostesses per meeting due to growing membership. New members include Mrs Donald Marshall Yokohama Japan Mrs R D Lee Osaka Japan Mrs L F Tuck Tokyo Japan Mrs N G Desmarais Osaka US one month Mrs J F Treen one year Mrs R T Modell Yokohama four years and Mrs A C McKillrick Tokyo seven years. After a Bible lesson, refreshments were served to the new members and several others.
Petunia Unit to meet at 5 30 a m at Mrs J Roy Dunning home with Ms Th A Ramey presiding. Members will bring last year’s yearbooks to place in hand painted covers used previously. Local note identifies NOS Atlanta as the source and mentions the president.
