The 1976 Festival profit of 3,454.66 boosted the AFA drive, and trustees are urged to channel Festival profits into the annual arts campaign to aid struggling groups like the Philharmonic Orchestra, LCT, and the Arts Guild.

The Turning Point drama for ballet lovers in film

Rex Reeds reports on a $5 million Twentieth Century Fox project The Turning Point, a ballet centered drama by Nora Kaye Arthur Laurents and Herbert Ross with stars Shirley MacLaine Anne Bancroft and Mikhail Baryshnikov. The piece follows two lifelong friends, one choosing marriage while the other pursues stardom, as their daughters’ careers collide. The production features a galaxy of dance luminaries from the American Ballet Theatre and international companies, with high expectations for box office potential despite ballet being seen as risky.
