Rezoning Approved for 20 Acre West Lawton Site
The Lawton Metropolitan Area Planning Commission approved a landowner Ben Horton’s request to rezone 20 acres from residential to commercial and temporarily designate it Planned Community Shopping Center District to lure development. The site lies north of U.S. 62 and east of 67th Street, with a one year window to begin construction. Commissioners Layton and Johnson opposed, citing existing commercial zoning. The panel also okayed Turnpike Industrial Addition Part 4 final plat with conditions for J. T. Grayson and Foodmaker Inc to rezone 2121 W Gore for a high density apartment and parking uses. The transportation study area was extended to include land around the Goodyear plant site, and final plats for Wichita Mountains Estates Part II and Crosby Park Estates Part 3 were approved.
